If you pay attention to the news, then chances are you know that last week AMC movie stocks were all over the headlines. AMC stock went wild after a Reddit thread encouraged buyers to invest in the struggling company. To make a long and complicated story short, this really just had us missing nights at the cinema.

Due to the pandemic, movie theaters have been facing shutdowns to comply with social distancing guidelines. Gone are the days of sneaking in candies, and buying buttery popcorn with a large slushy to wash it all down. Until theaters decide to reopen, we can try our very best to create the same experience at home. Here’s how!

The Ambience

Ambience is everything at the movie theater. There’s just something so relaxing about being able to shut off your phone and escape into the magic of film. It also just wouldn’t be the same without the sounds of slurping and munching. Here’s how to create the perfect at-home movie theater experience.

Lighting

Backyard Boss

To make your at-home movie experience perfect, the lighting needs to be just right. It may sound extra, but string lights are a great way to set the mood and add a whimsical touch to any setting. Plus, they are subtle enough that you won’t be in complete darkness, but you’ll also still be able to see everything you need.

Put away all distractions

Rolling Stone

Okay but seriously, don’t be that guy during the movie. You probably cringe at your weekly screen time report anyway, so put your phone in the other room during the movie! Hearing someone’s texts go off and screen light up the room is always the worst during a movie, so why not do the same at home?

Snacks

Reluctant Entertainer

As if movie tickets weren’t pricey to begin with, can we just take a second to ponder why movie snacks are so expensive? The best part about a movie night spent in is being able to eat as much as you want, as loud as you want, so why not go all out and make a spread full of sweet and savory treats? Here are some of our favorites

Popcorn: Any movie night really would not be complete without a big bowl of popcorn in your lap. Why not spice it up a bit? No pun intended. Kernel Season’s sells a variety pack of popcorn seasonings and they are just so good. They come in eight different unique flavors, so they will be sure to satisfy any craving. And, if you’re trying to keep it healthy, Weight Watcher’s sells their own version of this movie night essential. BRB, trying them all!

Candy: There are some candies that are consumed best while watching a movie. We consider these movie night essentials- do you?

  • Snowcaps
  • Junior Mints
  • Sugar Babies
  • Milk Duds
  • Charleston Chews
  • Twizzlers

Drinks

Seeded at the Table

While a fountain soda does hit the spot, for many of us, that is an everyday delicacy. Why not go all out and make you and your movie date a slushy? Here’s how to make a *healthy* slushy at home

What You Will Need

  • 2 cups of cold water
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 4 cups of ice
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite frozen fruit

What You Will Need to Do

  1. Throw all your ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth. For optimal thickness, add more ice.
  3. Serve and garnish with whipped cream or fruit!

So, what movie is at the top of your stay-at-home watch list?
