Must-Have Rainy Day Gear

Rain rain go away, come again another day! While many of us have been experiencing record amounts of snow over the past several weeks, many of us have been experiencing rainy weather. Nothing is worse than being unprepared for a day of rain. The wet and squeaky sneakers, sopping hair, and damp clothes are enough to give us the ick. Here are some of our favorite pieces of rainy day gear that will keep you comfortable and dry!

Rain Jackets

Resolve Parka II – The North Face

Sport Chek

April showers bring May flowers! This rain jacket by The North Face brings sunshine to any cloudy day. The baby pink color is feminine and chic, but not to worry- it’s also perfectly functional for combatting the elements! Made with their trademarked DryVent technology, the Resolve Parka II offers the perfect waterproof and windproof protection, while maintaining breathability! We recommend sizing up so you can layer sweatshirts underneath for added warmth! PS- it’s on sale at Dicks right now.

Rain Rebel – Lululemon

Lulu Fanatic

This jacket by Lululemon is a bit of a splurge (retails for about $230), but to us, it’s worth every penny. Plus, the quality is unmatched- you’ll never need another rain jacket for the rest of your life. This jacket is constructed with their trademarked Glyde fabric. It has a waterproof exterior, and the inside is lined with “sweat wicking” material, so it’s perfectly safe to workout in this. The best part? The pockets are fleece lined to keep you warm, and the waist is adjustable, allowing you to flaunt your figure while keeping you dry!

Women’s Mountain Classic Anorak – LL Bean

LL Bean

We love this jacket from LL Bean because the color blocking brings us back to a simpler time: the 90s. No but seriously, LL Bean is always a trustworthy option for outerwear and has an amazing reputation. This jacket is both wind and water resistant, but we recommend you wear this during a light drizzle. It’s roomy, so you can easily layer for warmth. It’s also super easy to store because it’s retractable. Certain color varieties can be found on sale for as low as $39 so run. Don’t walk to buy this jacket!

Rain Boots

Sienna Boot – UGG

Though Ugg boots are a controversial fashion choice, we personally love them. The only downside of the classic suede boots is that they do not do well in rainy and snowy weather unless they are waterproofed. In the last few years, Ugg has released a line of boots specifically built to combat rainy weather. Not only are their rubber boots water resistant, but they have that warm sheepskin lining on the inside to keep your feet nice and toasty. We don’t have enough good things to say about these bad boys.

Tavie Leather Combat Boot – Michael Kors

Michael Kors isn’t just for handbags, ladies! These rubber boots may not have been designed solely for the rain, but we think that they are such a trendy alternative to your run of the mill rainboots. This Doc Martin-esque boots are sure to make a statement no matter when you wear them. Pro tip: wear these with a pair of fuzzy socks for added warmth. It can get chilly in there!

What’s your go-to rainy day look?

The Biggest Fashion Trends We Will Be Seeing This Year

Just like everything else that happened last year, the spring/summer 2021 fashion showcases had to adapt to “our new normal.” Due to the ongoing pandemic, New York and London (two of the fashion capitals in the world) chose a safe approach for their 2021 fashion showcases, using predominantly digital platforms to showcase the latest designs and trends. The other two fashion capitals, Milan and Paris, held in-person showings with strict social distancing guidelines and a limited number of audience members.

So What Were The Biggest Trends Predicted For Spring/Summer 2021?

Well, the pandemic certainly had a toll on what designers created, with many influenced by our “work-from-home” routine, while others decided to go for bold and seriously eye-catching designs (maybe to distract us from our boring lives?). Whatever the case is, here are some of the predicted biggest trends that we will be seeing in 2021.

Oversized Shoulder Pad Boyfriends Jackets

What a flash-back to the 80’s with these retro oversized boyfriend jackets! Thanks to the shoulder pads, these jackets will help bring in our waist while making our legs look more elongated. Count me in! The best part about this look is you can easily dress it up or down, whether you’re going for a business chic look or just rolling out of bed to grab groceries!

Monochrome Outfits

A huge trend for the Spring Collection was monochrome ensembles. This black-and-white color combo has been a reliable look for as long as I can remember – with the classic white button-down and black straight-leg trousers the perfect basic yet elegant look for really any occasion. Many big name designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Gabriela Hearst predict monochrome looks to be the next big thing, with many of their models wearing stunning fit (dressed up with scarves, belts, and statement earrings).

Bralette Tops

Bralettes are back and more iconic than ever! In the past, we would layer the cutest bralettes under baggy shirts and sweaters to showcase that small pop of color… But that’s old news! Today, bralettes are being used as tops, and many of our fav celebs and influencers have already rocked this look under cardigans and blazers. So now it’s our time to try! It’s super easy to try this look out because you don’t even have to match your bralette to your top layer – a basic black cardigan will do just fine! Many stylists predict this trend will only gain more traction as the weather gets warmer.

Matching Sets

We’ve seen matching sets appear in the latter part of 2020 but by no means is this trend going away yet! Whether you’ve seen them on TikTok, Instagram, or your favorite stores, matching sets are the new cutest and coziest style out right now. This athleisure look can be worn around the house, but also for social outings too. You can dress up the matching sweatshirt and sweatpants with a blazer, layered, necklaces, are a chunky pair of boots. And if you want to look stylish on a budget (aren’t we all?), there are plenty of cute options available on Amazon that won’t break the bank!
