3 tips to remove wines stains from clothes

Published

on

You’re so excited to wear that new beige cardigan to the winery with your gal pals. After finally sitting down with a glass of merlot, your friend accidentally knocks into your arm. Not only is your Instagram picture ruined, your new sweater is now drenched in red wine.

As damaging as they may seem, red wine stains are not as difficult to remove as you may think (especially if you act quick!).

1. DAWN AND HYDROGEN PEROXIDE “COCKTAIL”

The Happier Homemaker

These two products can often seem like magic. Put equal parts Dawn and hydrogen peroxide into a bowl and mix well. Pour the liquid on the wine stain and wait for it to soak in. After a few minutes, the stain should have already faded. Put the article of clothing in the laundry and wash regularly.

TIP: Be careful when doing this on dark color clothes – hydrogen peroxide can have the tendency to bleach.

2.) WHITE VINEGAR AND LAUNDRY DETERGENT

GREEN IDEA REVIEWS

Another easy trick for removing a dark wine stain! Spread white vinegar and quickly rub in liquid laundry detergent on the stain. Throw the piece of clothing in the wash and set your machine to the “hot water” feature.

BLEACH ON WHITE SHIRTS

Glass Half Full – Bright Cellars

Spilling wine on a white shirt may feel like a tragedy, but with bleach it doesn’t have to be! Soak the article in bleach for approximately 10 minutes before laundering. Make sure your washing machine water setting is put on hot – this helps the stain lift faster.

Just remember, next time you spill your cabernet- THINK DAWN!
